Icon & Ikon is a Lawndale-based architecture and design-build firm. For more than three decades we have designed, permitted, and built homes and residential developments across the South Bay and greater Los Angeles.

Our story

A firm built to finish what it draws.

We started in 1991 with a simple conviction: the people who design a building should be able to see it standing. So we built a practice that does not stop at the drawings. We take an idea from concept through permits and into construction, staying with it the entire way.

That end-to-end model keeps us honest. When you draw it, price it, permit it, and build it, you learn quickly what actually works. Thirty-plus years of that feedback loop is baked into every project we take on — from a single custom home to a full residential block.

Ike Mbelu

Principal Architect

Ike has practiced architecture for more than thirty-seven years. He leads design and sets the standard for how a drawing becomes a building — from the first massing study to the details that get built. His experience across residential and mixed-use work is the backbone of the firm.

Ugo Mbelu

VP of Operations

Ugo runs operations and keeps projects moving — coordinating permitting, construction, and the day-to-day that turns approved plans into finished work. He is the connective tissue between the studio, the city, and the field.

How we work

Concept to permits to build.

Three phases, one team. You keep the same people from the opening sketch to the final walkthrough.

Phase 01

Concept

We study the site, the budget, and the goal, then shape the idea into plans and elevations you can react to. This is where ambition meets what the lot and the numbers will bear.

Phase 02

Permits

We produce construction documents and carry them through zoning, code, plan check, and agency approvals — so the project is legal, buildable, and ready before ground breaks.

Phase 03

Build

We construct it, coordinate the trades, and manage the schedule through final inspection. The people who drew it are the people who deliver it.
